Cash usage in Yemen

Yemen is entirely cash-based. Rial cash and USD are the only payment options in this conflict-affected country, which has essentially no functioning card infrastructure.

Is cash still widely used?

Cash is the only option. Yemen’s ongoing conflict has completely destroyed financial infrastructure. USD is the most practical currency for any transactions, alongside Yemeni rials for very small local purchases. The banking system has essentially collapsed.
