Is cash still widely used?
Yes. Venezuela’s prolonged economic crisis has resulted in USD becoming the dominant practical currency for most transactions. Bolívars still circulate but hyperinflation makes managing them challenging. Most everyday transactions — restaurants, shops, transport — are conducted in USD cash.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
Venezuelan ATMs dispense bolívars at official rates which are unfavorable. Withdrawing USD from foreign ATMs is extremely unreliable.
