Is cash still widely used?
Yes. Solomon Islands is predominantly cash-based. Markets, local transport, guesthouses, and businesses across the 900+ islands require Solomon dollar cash. Honiara has very limited card acceptance at a few hotels.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are available in Honiara. BSP and ANZ Solomon Islands machines accept foreign cards.

Card acceptance
Very low. A small number of hotels in Honiara accept cards. Everywhere else requires cash.
