Is cash still widely used?
Moderately. Portugal has improved its card infrastructure significantly. Lisbon and Porto have excellent card acceptance, but smaller towns, village restaurants, local markets, and older establishments still lean toward cash.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs (Multibanco) are widespread and one of Europe’s most advanced ATM networks — you can pay bills, top up phones, and more. Millennium BCP and CGD machines are common.
