Is cash still widely used?
Yes, entirely. PNG is almost entirely cash-based. Local markets, transport, guesthouses, and all businesses outside Port Moresby’s upscale establishments require kina cash. The highlands, Sepik River, and coastal areas are strictly cash-dependent.

ATMs are available in Port Moresby. BSP (Bank South Pacific) machines accept foreign cards.
