Is cash still widely used?
Rarely. Liechtenstein shares Switzerland’s payment infrastructure and culture. Cards are accepted at most businesses in Vaduz and larger towns. Cash is occasionally useful for very small purchases.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are available in Vaduz. LLB (Liechtensteinische Landesbank) machines accept foreign cards.
- Fees are around 5 CHF per withdrawal for foreign cards
- Limited ATMs — withdraw in Switzerland if needed
- Swiss francs are required — euros sometimes accepted but at poor rates
Card acceptance
Very good. Visa and Mastercard are accepted at most hotels, restaurants, and shops. Switzerland-standard infrastructure applies.
