Is cash still widely used?
Cash is the only option. Libya’s ongoing political instability and banking sector disruption means foreign cards are non-functional. All transactions require cash — either Libyan dinars exchanged locally or USD/EUR for larger transactions.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
Foreign cards do not work in Libyan ATMs. Bring all necessary foreign currency and exchange to dinars at licensed money changers.
