Yes. While M-Pesa mobile money has transformed Kenya’s economy, foreign visitors can’t easily access it without a local SIM and registration. For tourists, a mix of cards (at tourist businesses) and shilling cash (for local transport, markets, and tips) is the practical approach.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are widely available in Nairobi and tourist towns. Equity Bank and KCB Bank machines accept foreign cards.
