Is cash still widely used?
Yes, entirely. Equatorial Guinea is almost entirely cash-based. Despite oil wealth, financial infrastructure for foreign visitors is very limited. CFA francs are essential for all daily transactions.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are available in Malabo and Bata. CCEI Bank machines occasionally accept foreign cards but reliability is inconsistent.

Card acceptance
Very low. A small number of upscale hotels in Malabo accept cards. Everywhere else requires cash.
