Is cash still widely used?
Yes. Cameroon is predominantly cash-based. Markets, local transport, restaurants, guesthouses, and most businesses require CFA franc cash. Mobile money (MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money) is growing among locals but not easily accessible to foreign visitors.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are available in Yaoundé and Douala. Afriland First Bank and BICEC machines accept foreign cards.

- Good availability in the two main cities; limited elsewhere
- Withdraw cash in Yaoundé or Douala before regional travel
Card acceptance
Low. Some hotels and larger restaurants in Yaoundé and Douala accept cards. Everywhere else requires CFA francs.

- Tipping is appreciated — 10% in tourist restaurants
