Is cash still widely used?
Yes. Bosnia is predominantly cash-based. Local restaurants, cafes, transport, markets, and guesthouses rely on convertible marks. Sarajevo has some card acceptance at tourist-facing businesses, but cash is required for most daily transactions.
ATMs and withdrawing cash
ATMs are available in Sarajevo and larger towns. UniCredit and Raiffeisen Bank machines accept foreign cards.

- Good availability in Sarajevo; limited in smaller towns and rural areas
- Mostar has ATMs in the tourist centre
Card acceptance
Low to moderate. Some hotels and restaurants in Sarajevo accept cards. Everywhere else, convertible marks in cash are required.
